When one of them hits you . Judge will tell you that is why you carry insurance.
All the do to register is show a faked one on the phone good to go.
Funny story....

Lady that hit me in March hadn't had insurance since DECEMBER. Been driving around all this time with no coverage (her previous ins company sent me a letter specifically stating that fact). Of course, our little paint & paper transaction brought all that to light. I guess she was fined and told to go get insurance. Which she did because her NEW insurance company sent me a letter stating they WERE NOT insuring her at the time of the accident.

My wife's car ate the timing chain and took out several valves. Would have cost more to fix than it was worth, so we scrapped the car and I took the insurance off it since it was on its way to becoming a cube. Guess what, a week or three later, I get a letter that my driving privileges will be suspended and I could be fined if I don't turn my plate back in toot suite!

I think it's more a factor of which insurance companies report it than the DMV chasing it down. The folks who will get insurance each year and then drop it after they get registration are more likely to shop from the late-night television commercials. They seem to be the "No-Tell-Motels" of the insurance industry.

I've watched too many folks loose out when the other parties insurance was the stat minimum. I have insurance to cover my stuff, and damage to others.

Also many lawyers now seem to get the funds first, then extract their fees, then pay other corporations (medical bills for one instance) and then you get anything left over.

NC puts corporations before humans. Those will money creat corporations to protect their assets.

Default VA may be an exception

But most states will cancel registration when aware there’s no insurance on said vehicle.

As noted, insurance isn’t to pay/repair the one that caused you to be involved in a wreck, it pays for your vehicle. No fault I believe it’s called?

All I know is for one to be in the game and not get called for a foul, you play the game. I have paid so much for insurance over the years and have zero to show for it.

A scam if you ask me but hey, like the Karen who posted, many just blindly do what they’re told and never give it a second thought. Then these Karen’s want everyone to do what they do blindly.

To add, many also believe they have a right to drive which is a large part of vehicle accidents/incidents. Those same many people probably shouldn’t ride a bicycle let alone operate a motor vehicle. That’s not a personal take, if you drive a car you know.

Yes, but I bet 99% are for cars, suv's and trucks. If a car hits a bike and has no insurance, think it will stick around?
