Memories of Iwo Jima
Marine Private First Class Scout/Sniper William P. Montgomery.
In 1945 he was boots on the ground confronting the Japanese solders. In 2000 he wrote a short book of his memories. The family gave us a digital copy. If you would like to enjoy a true story of his time there I have placed a copy on my Box cloud. Here is the link.
Enjoy

Thank You So far excellent reading .............When I watch the series "The Pacific" I think how anyone survived the battles against the Japanese is beyond any rational thought. Total insanity and conditions that were so hostile and intolerable ....its a miracle honestly... that anyone survived.
My wife's Uncle (RIP) was one of the lucky ones, He only lost an eye to Iwo Jima, and made it home. Thanks to Uncle Joe, who gave me a job in his packing shed I met my future bride of 51 years.
A very interesting read from one of our "Greatest Generation"
