So you bought the bike with a 120R already installed and never had a touring bike with the stock catalytic converter to compate it to, yet your claiming all 120R's run hot? Since your new to the bike and engine I'll let you know mine doesn't run hot, you may need to get a better tune?
It's simply an undebatable fact that 120R's make more heat than standard motors. If you cannot accept that fact we will simply have to disagree. I've got fifty-three years of Harley experience but what do I know?
Smiles and ride hard.

I'm sure I'll get flamed for this comment by someone, but what the hell. I was talking with the service mgr about doing the oil cooler and he recommended doing the pan. Labor wise he said he would change the same but said the extra capacity oil would help more than the cooler. If the bike is going to run hot it's in stop and go traffic not when you're rolling so that where the extra oil would come in handy. Flame on!! Lol

And how much time do you think it will take for that extra quart to heat up?
Then what?
I like bigger oil capacity. But you still need to get it cool when needed.
The fastest killer of oil life is extreme temps. And whatever you see on that oil temp gauge is much higher by the crank and piston bottoms.
