Angry Road King Died, crank, no start, black smoke

Posted in engine section but didn't get anything yet. I'm in a hurry because I'm moving out of state and am loading the truck on sunday.

so,

I am moving to phoenix Monday morning. I just started my bike to run somewhere and right as I was pulling out of my driveway it died. I tried starting it again and it would crank but not turn over. after a second it popped and blew a good amount of black smoke out of the intake. (I have the heavy breather so it was pretty well visible.) I am stressing because my bike was supposed to be my main transportation while in phoenix. Anyone able to help me and point me in the right direction? Should I do a compression test and see what its at? would it be a valve issue? I'm just trying to figure out my options and what my first step should be. No check engine lights, oil lights, etc.

What year? What mods?
Sounds like ignition since you are seeing black smoke.
Check plugs and wires. Check for spark by pulling a plug and grounding it and cranking the engine.

Briefly remove the Power Commander and try to start it.

Check the simple, easy stuff first.

1. Battery (make sure that your volt meter is above 10 volts and that your battery cables are clean and tight.

It does sound like something with your ignition system but hopefully it won't be too serious,

Good luck.

When was the last time it was fueled? Is there any chance it was topped off with diesel .
I have seen this happen
The next thing to check is crank position sensor. Check the codes before you do anything

No codes. I don't hear the fuel pump prime when I turn ignition on so it may be that. The plugs are good. The gas tank is pretty low. 91 octane has always beer ran in it.

Pull the plugs put a little raw gas in each hole and put the plugs back in and try to start it. If it tries to start you maybe looking at a bad fuel pump or filter

Take the Power Commander out and see if that makes any difference.
