Default Sounds like a tractor...(?)

Okay, I know this is one of those "How long is a rope?" questions, but I will give it a try:
I have a 2005 Ultra 88" with 66k miles on it. Stage 1 with SERT. Change the oil regularly every 5k and only use synthetics in all 3 holes. Lately I have registered a low gnarly sound from the front of the engine at idle that sounds like a tractor. It is louder than it has been and literally sounds like I have a John Deere down there.
Any thoughts? Fire away... And thanks in advance.

Probably your cam chain tensioners.

What do you mean by "sounds like a tractor"? A little elaboration for clarification please.

Well, my John Deere tractor has a 3 cylinder Yanmar Diesel in it, and if my bike sounded like that I would be very concerned.

Hmmm... Concerned. Thanks.

With regard to "elaboration," I can't think of more detailed description other than it is only audible at idle, sounds gnarly and like diesel tractor idle, but no change in performance at any speed.

Tensioners were changed at 40k.

Thanks all for feedback.

I would seriously consider pulling the compensater and taking a look at that. It's easy to get to, and when they wear out they can make some noise, for sure.

=============================

With 66k miles 1st thing i'd check would be Compensator & prim chain tensioner & if not either of those are shot then maybe cam chain tensioners could be shot.

But it depends on what side of motor the noise is coming from ,the comp & prim chain tensioner are on left side of the motor and cam chain tensioners are on right side.

well, without hearing the noise -- 1. Intake gasket from or 2. Exhaust gasket
