I agree LOL!
I've had both and wished I could afford to have kept them.

Hey you in Nashville? I'm looking forward to the Rally this month!
Looks like a pretty nice music line up.

ive had both an 07 rk and an 05 1200xl sporty. the sporty is faster off the line obviously. it might even be faster in the top end too, but 75 mph on the sporty feels like youre strapped to the wing of the space shuttle. the road king on the other hand is only cruising at 75mph. i feel like i could fall asleep on the rk as where there would be pucker marks on the sporty seat when i got off of it. two totally different bikes. both are fun in their own ways.

Fully agree. I have an 03 XL1200C and an 05 FLHRSI. I do believe the Sporty is quicker, and probably faster as well, but 75 on the Sporty is fast enough. The RK cruises at 90 like it's not even trying. Two different bikes for two different rides - I'm very fortunate to be able to have both.

As the highest posted speed limits these days is 75 MPH, does it really matter? Both will run above that. One comfortably, the other......not so much

Fastest...I don't much care. At the end of the ride, who's walking comfortably is the final analysis.

I have owned both. My Stage 1 1200C was hands down faster off the line and even from 55-75 than my Stage 1 RKC. And yes it had a windshield. I switched for a ride with a buddy who has a RK. When we stopped I asked how he liked the oversized grips I had on the 1200. His answer was they are great, there is more to hang onto when you open it up and almost go off the back.

All that being said, the previous posts are dead on. 75 on the Sporty is as far as you want to take it and keep any semblance of comfort. 75 ont eh RK and you are cruising.

I had a 98 XL1200s, stage 2. Thing was a friggin rocket. NEVER was beat by another Harley. Topped out at about 130 and it definately was like holding on to the wing of an Airplane. Rode the thing from NYC to Laconia and about 1000 miles in a couple of days and walked like a cowboy for a week. lol Definately needed a bigger bike, but it worked very well to commute around NYC, white line like nobodies business. I white line now but need to watch those crash bars.

I wish I could have kept both, but probably going to by a dyna and make that a rocket.
