run stop switch??? mabe
Would check the battery cables first. Could be a loose poor connection. Enough to drive all except starter solenoid. As you kept trying, the loose connection heated up the sorry connection expanding it to make. That on/off switch is pretty low amp and should be OK. Know you are suppose to use it but I never do. Just the key switch.
it was just that I had power to all but when I hit the start button nothing happened. so I rocked (on -off)_the run stop engine switch with the start button pushed and it made contact and started,, that is what leaned toward the run stop switch..
thanks mike
you have your piece of wire and knowledge, just ride as you have a "work around"...this may never happen again.
or it may get worse- at which point tear stuff apart

My 2000 Ultra, with about 75,000 miles on it suddenly got hard to start and several times it quit when I was riding it.
The last time it quit on me I was almost in my driveway, but I live on a dirt/gravel road that has an incline and I wasn't about to push it.
After "playing with it" for a while, it started and the next day it was on the trailer and on it's way to the dealer where I bought it new.
I imagined all kinds of serious/expensive possibilities but it turned out to be the "kill" switch!
Everything wears out eventually.
