Brake/tail light?

Looking at Custom Dynamics GEN2-LDW-R-B. Says "Non DOT approved". What would be the issue. Everything on my bike is LED now and the tail light looks weak or dim. But it is just not as bright. Want to finish it off with CD's light. Looks very nice any thoughts. Might only be the one with turn signal in brake light but I am not sure.Thanks

Even the Bright *** Lights are not DOT approved, and they are blindingly bright.
