Default Anyone reuse HD slip on clamp when swapping mufflers?

Know it says we're supposed to replace them every install, but I'm putting on my American Custom Bombers on my new RK and the clamps they sent just dont look half as robust as the stock clamp. I'd rather keep the old one if I can. Anyone get leaks or have issues with doing this?

I have re-used the same clamps twice with no problems.

I'm not sure its the proper way, but it worked.

As long as they're not streched out i.e. touching end to end I reused em a few times with no prob. But have a new set handy just in case. Theyre not too expensive even from the dealer.

I put on new slip ons about a year after purchasing my 2013. I have had exhaust off a few times, cam install, tire change, belt adjustment. Still using stock clamps without any issues. I do use a torque wrench and torque to specs.

check the old ones are round- the Torca clamps are made to deform when torqued.

torque spec is about 38 ft lbs.

on a new set of clamps I start at about 32 ft lbs- if they seal I leave there...if they don't seal I snug up a pound at a time and heat cycle.

the next use I add a couple of pounds- this way I can get a few uses

( but i also keep a new set of clamps in a drawer)

if muffler or header pipes get out of round, you can reform them with dies and bucks from harbor freight or stop by a muffler shop.
trying to seal 2 "egged" pipes is useless

You can reuse them but there is the slim chance of leaks ,depending on the condition of yours.

I'd only re-use them once or twice.

I had a muffler that would rotate whenever the bike was on the side stand after re-using a clamp and the slash cut would be off centre. New clamp and all was good

To prevent leaks if you reuse them (and I do) put some )02 sensor RTV Copper colored sealeant on the pipe (also helps when taking the pipe off to change tires etc).
