Default batteries

my younger brother is looking for a battery. i have always recommended Deka but have heard their quality has wavered lately and they are not lasting as long. who makes the yussa brand ? are they made here in the U.S.A. ? if the dekas are only last two years now days might as well look at something that will last longer. cost is a concern.

I think all the quality is about the same...poor. Battery life seems to have more to do with how its used and stored.....(Tender) or just let gradually drain down. I tried this place the last time I needed a battery. 2 years and its still going strong.

This thread ran a week or so ago, I'm also a fan of using a battery tender when not riding.

+1 fir the Battery Tender. When mine finally gives up I've been reading up on the lithium type batteries. But, hopefully, I have plenty of time to consider.

Don't buy a cheap battery. I bought a cheap battery about 2 years ago and it only lasted 6 months. I bought a new battery from Battery's plus and i keep it on a battery tender for the most part and i haven't had any problems.

A good friend is the parts manager at a power sports store, (snowmobiles, motorcycles, ATV's) I just talked to him on Friday about a battery for my 12 FLHTK this coming spring, he has had good luck with Yuasa batteries and has sold them for years, he has been parts manager for over 25 years. I'm sure someone out there has something bad to say about Yuasa batteries, but I will be getting one this spring. If I remember he was talking around 160.00 retail.
