Cool 2013 FLHX/w ABS - single disc setup?

I've searched this forum and found a few references to a single disc setup on a SG/w ABS and wanted to ask any and all who have done is this if they noticed any effect on ABS with a single disc?

The reason for asking is that my local H-D Techs are saying that going with a single disc setup will affect ABS, unfortunately with no details on how or what the effect will be.

So if you have a single disc setup with ABS, please share your experience here.

You should do a 13" rotor with 6 piston caliper to have the same stopping power. No issues with ABS. Did it on a buddy's 2014 Streetglide.

I called Arlen Ness just now and they said that if I convert my 2013 FLXH/w ABS to a single disc setup, the ABS will be shut off because the ABS control module will loose the 2nd 'pulse' from the right hand side caliper and thus fall back to its safety mode.

Seems unlikely with this set-up

That setup actually uses a single brake line from the ABS module to the double calipers, and thus won't fix the missing feedback pulse issue.

same as normal - one line from the ABS box to a tee on the forks that splits to each caliper - seems odd that the ABS box is that sensitive - especially since it works when calipers are clean or dirty and pads worn or new

Got to think "Outside the Box" ... Assuming there was an issue with that...just run two individual brake lines down to the calipers on the left side

EDIT: With it's own line, that Right-side Caliper doesn't know it's now on the Left-side with it's partner

It would be great if someone with a single disc conversion could confirm whether ABS continues to work as it should....

Yes, confirmation is "Beuno"

You may have to make custom lines, but that shouldn't be a big deal.

Now that you've established a relationship with Ness, maybe could pose that possible solution to them using the analogy...that with the proper brake lines (not their Daisy-chain line), why would that Right-side care that it is now on the Left side.

Maybe their answer, after a moment of silence, would be "Well, I guess that would work"

The scary part is why would a tech at Arlen Ness, not know their stuff?

I mean if you can't trust those folks to know what they are saying/doing then who can you?
