Default Virgin bagger needs help

Afternoon yall! I'm new to the group and bike scene. I've owned a few crotch rockets in my life but finally maturing to the Street Glide. These past 10 years I've been running with the Powerboat scene and now in ready to get back to my love of 2 wheels. I'm purchasing a 2011 Street Glide from a friend and wanting to do a few custom things but not take off from logging some actual miles. I've figured out from binge reading threads on here that I should go with a 23" rim rather than 26". Problem is I now need feedback on which bags, stretched bags, fender, whatever to go with that doesn't affect riding and cornering without issues. I will most likely be logging all my miles with my lady on back and just simply not sure about the whole bag issue. Hopefully yall can help me out!

Hi from the UK and welcome to HDF. I suggest you start riding your 'new' bike together and enjoy the experience first. Allow the ideas to flow while rolling along the road, meeting new bagger friends, rather than spending a lot of time plotting changes so soon. Your current ideas may change quite quickly once you're both on the road.

The best money you can spend is on gasoline.

Ask yourself... do you want to ride it, or look at it? Win shows or wind therapy?

Sweet thanks. I Def plan on riding a while before changing anything. The first thing I'm planning on is the Arlen Ness 7x7 trees and the 23" rim. But would like a more custom bags that still clear on corners.

Welcome! Being you have been away for 10 years. I would ride your SG the way it is, if it's anywhere close to being stock. Then make your decisions on changes. Just my 2 cents worth! JR

I would prefer the happy medium. I would love the 26" or 30" but that's not pratical. We have a place on Galveston Island so we'll making a lot of weekend trips. About 100 miles from home. Figured with the 23", maybe different bags, maybe stretched tank that I'd be happy. I do want it to look good but pratical.
