Default Floating Front Rotors

Hello

I recently put a 19" wheel and tire off a 2015 Road Glide on my 2012 Street Glide. Everything went together fine, but I notice one rotor is very tight and little or even no motion but the other is extremely lose I can move it considerably with my hand. It also clunks and clinks when I am rolling the motorcycle around with my feet. Quite a a lot of noise and people are asking me whats wrong with my bike lol. I imagine it also makes noise while I am driving I just might not be able to separate the noise from the rest of the noises. What I am asking is this correct? Should the rotor be so loose that is can move and make so much noise? If not, what would you expect to be wrong and how should I go about correcting it? Thank you very much for your time, Bryan

I recently bought new floasting rotors for my Glide because the old ones were both loose and noisy. The new ones are as tight as can be, but it is early days. I've got and had floating rotors on several bikes and when new none of them have been loose or made any noise. Yours don't sound healthy! Unfortunately I don't have any experience of your type of spoke-mounted rotor.

The floating rotors are usually held on by rivets and that loose one might need to be re-installed. There should not be much play if you turn the rotors clockwise/counter-clockwise.

The play isnt in the rotation but in the back and forth motion. Along the centerline of the axle.

Not normal...On those "Enforcers" you either need new Spring Washers, washers period (because you have none), or to tighten the rotor bolts

There should be a screw, spring and bushing at each fixing point on those rotors.

Upon further inspection the rotor is significantly loose both radially and in and out. Very loose. Now my question is what do I need to buy? A new rotor? New mounting hardware? Or all of the above? Thank you.

Not familiar with the stock Enforcer rotors, but does both rotors have a ring attached to the wheel and the rotor attached to this ring OR are they both attached to the wheel (no ring and thus not floating)? A pic would be helpful.

If the latter, then new hardware might be good, but suggest to check the rotor for wrapping.

If it's the former, then most likely the rotor is riveted to that ring (semi-floating). New hardware kit is available and uses C-clips to attach the new buttons, but this would make them full-floating and would have that play. Some really nice street bikes have the full-floating rotors and have that excess play.

If it was me, it might be the time to get some nicer rotors.

It seems you have one good rotor and one bad one, so to speak. Compare the two! I suspect it is the fixings, especially the springs, that are at fault. Had you bought an H-D floating rotor for the previous type of wheel it will have come with a set of new fasteners. If you have installed your rotors and checked a factory service manual I suspect you will find that the recommendation is to use new fixings for your new rotors.

Ok ALL the spring washers are missing from the noisy rotor. The other rotor has all the spring washers in place. I order new washers and bushings hoping the rotor wasn't damaged due to the excessive sloppiness.
