Brake help
Looking for some help. I thought it might just be a break in thing, but it seems as if my front brakes are draging a bit not slowing the bike at all just the sound of it slightly hitting the disk while slowing down. When I am slowing down at slow speeds with out the brakes applied you can hear the pads dragging lightly. You slightly apply the brakes and it goes away. It doesn't seem to be heating up or messing with any performance. Is that normal for break in? I just went over 500 miles on my 07 Road king Standard. Is it something to worry about? Don't want the brakes going out on me when I really need them.
Well the dealer and a lot of others here will say it's normal.
and some will even suggest an exotic (read expensive) cure.
Actually if you or a buddy have the skills you can help it yourself
for about $5 and some labor.
If not take it to a shop you trust.
Dealer might do it under warranty but probably not.
Go to any automotive parts store and get a aerosol can of disc brake quiet.
Pull your front calipers off, remove the pads (watch how they are assembled will only
go back right one way)
Collapse the pistons back into their bores.
Spray the BACK side of the pads (be absolutely sure it's the metal back side) with a couple
coats, then reassemble.
This should help the pads retract farther away from the rotor when you let up off te brakes.
May not cure it completely but should help considerably.
And while you're at it, buy the service manual.

Have you had the rotors swapped yet? It was a SB out. I had ended the squeal by having silicon/foam inserted in the cast wheels, but thought swapping the rotors wouldn't hurt anything. It didn't hurt anything and actually stopped the draggin brake noise I was getting. It has only been a week, but I noticed it right away. If it hasn't been done yet, just have the dealer swap the rotors. From left to right, right to left. Most of the later '07 have this done already, so yours may be done. But for me, it worked. And cost me nothing.
Well finally got the bike in to get the dealer to look at the bike for the 1000 mile service. They said that because of the squeeking brakes in 05-07 they have swapped all rotors to the other side. Mine aren't squeeking they are slightly dragging. He says that they will be like that till they wear down more. It's got 1400 miles on it I don't think they should be dragging still. He's going to have the tech look ay it should no more later today.
For what its worth, my dealer said they will wear down and stop the dragging sound. I have 7500 miles and I am wondering when these will wear down.
My guess is about the time I need to change them out for new brakes.
