2017 Limited, test ride, deal
Decided to see what kind of deal I could get on my 2014 Limited (7200 mile,Vivid Black). Rode it to the Dealer and saw a 2017 Limited (Black Quartz). Test drove the bike and liked it a lot with all the improvements. Very impressed. I decided to let them check my credit and run the numbers. Here's the deal:
16500 trade for my bike (I paid 26300 in 2014)
27500 purchase price for the 2017 Limited.
I would have to finance 23500.
Best interest rate I could get was 4.99% for 72 months.
I owe 10275 for my 2014 Limited.
It was difficult to turn the deal down and ride away on my 2014. I could not help but to feel that a better deal would be out there at some point in time in the future. On the ride home I felt new appreciation for my 2014.
Mabey next time.

I'm going to wait till the 18s come out I have a 14 RK with 27000 miles by the end of next summer it will be around 36000 miles, it is paid for. I will buy another RK if they don't come out with the dark red in 18, then I may wait longer. I have no interest in a big dash board with gadgets all over it, I'm a wind in the face King guy.

Good decision imo. Having demoed a couple 17s, I can't say I was inspired to trade either.
Better motor? Yep. But it sounds as if there may be some issues. I'm not dropping 10 grand on an unproven motor, which is about what the trade difference would be on a new SGS.
My last trade difference was $6k from my 11 Ultra to my 14 SGS. That, to me, was worth it. But with rising prices and my bike having the old motor, I doubt I'll see anything under that $10k difference. In fact, it will only get worse probably. Looks like I may keep my bike longer than I normally do.

its tempting but my 2013 FLHTK is set up just fine. might take a peek once its paid off. i only owe a little more than $3000 and it should be paid off next year. i've been on my way to the dealers to look at and possibly buy a new bike but every time i ride her that way, i think to myself.....why do i want to trade a perfectly good motorcycle with only 50000 miles on it for a new one..... just can't seem to break up the marriage.
