I was out doing some riding this afternoon down some back country highways and came up to a highway with a bit of a slope at the stop. Went to take off and front wheel turned too sharp and down I went. Did the old **** did anyone see that look, then the **** there's nobody around to help me look. Tried multiple times and different ways to pick it back up but failed to even budge it. I finally grabbed the back crash bar and the front handle bar and just muscled it up, just in time for about 15 bikes to ride by and wave. Hardest part was getting the kickstand back down while I was in the awkward position I was in.
Luckily, doesn't look like I even scratched the crash bars. But I'm sure glad they were there. Gonna sign up for a local rider course to work on low speed maneuvering and maybe pickup RLAP, just wish they taught it in my area.
I've been lucky to have not dropped my bike yet. Have seen YouTube videos of 120 lb women lifting baggers so I know it can be done. Glad you weren't hurt or bike damaged.
Kudos for thinking of taking a course. Definetly do it when you have the chance. Ive been riding for a long time, but will admit i'm not the worlds greatest rider. Ive taken several advanced riding classes and they've helped tremendously.
