3" taller bars
The general consensus is that ten inch bars will work with stock wires and cables, possibly requiring some re- routing. Anything taller, will not. Taller bars are on my to do list also.
[QUOTE=Keithhu;15600072]Whats more important: keeping old cables or being as comfortable as you can be?[/QUOTE
I don't really care if I have to get cables or not. Just getting a consensus of what I need. If I need new cables for 10". Then I will probably go 12".

I recently installed 12" bars using stock hydraulics lines and NAMZ plug and play wiring harnesses. No issues at all.

Got the 12" Yaffe Monkee bars from Hill Country Customs.....came pre-wired thru the bars with all new cables.......was originally looking at 10"........ a few on here suggested I go to the 12's..........so I did...and I couldn't be happier!!
I put 3" bars on my flhtk this year and bought extensions for the control wiring, clutch and brake cables were fine and nothing done there. It can be done with stock control wires, but they are likely to be under some stress during install and potentially afterwards so I didn't want future issues and bought extensions from Moco.
My advice on cables, do not use the Drag Specialties/Motion Pro/Bikers Choice, etc clutch cables. They are not sealed at the transmission end and will eventually leak oil out between the housing and fitting. I put 2 on before I learned and switched brands (Magnum Shielding). I also plan to replace my Motion Pro throttle cables too over the winter to match the Magnum clutch cable. Magnum are far superior cables also, just lube them good with spray silicone for best results.
