I bought a pair of Bates (Tahoe Motorcycle) boots in 2013 for $135.00 on Amazon. Still going strong. Very comfortable. They're the only boots I wear when riding. I bought another pair in brown in 2015. They're waterproof and can be resoled. I highly recommend them.

 

Wore Danner, gore-tex boots for many years at work. Could stand in a puddle and feet would stay dry... My work boots were re-soled 4x... before the first resole, they had out lasted Hi-Tec, Bates, and Rockys...

Retired now, but I wear Danner gore-tex while riding. Been caught in a few storms, rain pants go to my boots, feet never got wet...

They're not cheap, but based on my experience, they're worth it to me...

 

....Cruiserworks....expensive but feather light, grip like fly paper and waterproof. Go up 1/2 size from what you usually wear.

Some good recommendations here. I would say, make sure the boots are broken in good first.

 

I have to second the RW 607s. I like the fact that the sole is"oil and slip resistant" big lugs on the bottom might be good in snow but not fine gravel and sand, at least that's been my experience. .

 

I tried Harley boots , first rain an they were soaked , returned them and bought a pair of GORETEX hunting boots from BASS PRO ¾ of the way from Fort Lauderdale to Anchorage through lots of rain. And boots are dry

 

My GORETEX story:

Late 70's / early 80's I'm into offshore sailboat racing. On one particularly nasty day, soaked right to the core of my own **** in my $700 ( probably much more today), GORETEX "made for sailors" rain suit, we pass a fishing boat full of dry & happy fishermen wearing simple Helly Hansesn vinyl rain suits worth less than 100 bux. At next opportunity I bought a HH vinyl suit, ditched the GOREHYPE and never looked back. Offshore, 100% dry is unattainable but "waterproof" trumps "breathable", all day long. That's the simple truth !

When people are suckered into a marketing yarn to the tune of $100's, they don't like to admit they've been suckered. Its easier on the ego to support the claim, qualifying as necessary, in order to save face. You want to be dry? Wear something waterproof. If it breathes air it will breathe water,,, duh !

Vinyl coated boot covers are 20 bux and vinyl keeps water out till it wears out / off, at which point you part with another $20,,,, too easy.

 

I got a pair 10877 red wing boots on my trip to the blackhills in south Dakota 2 weeks ago and shipped my white's home, we put 1900 miles on in 7 days my feet never hurt and I love this boot for running board on a bike
