Default tool to access fuel pump

anyone know what size pvc you need to make a tool to remove the ring to get at the fuel pump? i thought it was 5 inch, but don't know for sure. i know i saw a thread on this one time , but can't find it anywhere. thanks !

I disagree. Just by the tool. It's $35 on Amazon. Why risk mucking something up. I also read a recent post where the poster had issues reinstalling the ring on the tank because he couldn't get it to compress enough on the gasket without the tool.

Hey then you can rent / lend it out to all of us.

​​​​​​​My pleasure! Frankly, I've always tapped the out, too...but I hit the gasket/o-ring with some silicon before installing the new one. Some guys use Vaseline. But if you prefer the tool, that's a good idea.
