Default 2007 Ultra Classic Stator/Regulator

My stator is bad and I am about to replace it but was informed that I must replace the regulator as well. Is this true? I dont want to spend the extra $160 if I dont have to .

We're it me, and if reliability was more important than pinching pennies, I'd replace it.

That said, if I was replacing the regulater, I probably wouldn't replace the stator.

I would replace the regulator as well. One of these components can certainly adversely affect the other. Your bike being a 2007 you already have 10 years of service on the regulator.

i found both as a set online for about 247$ to my door. cycle electric, couple years ago. Just felt like replaceing it, might run the bike another ten years who knows? and its hi output as a bonus for are year. Had to search patiently maybe a few days and it showed up online. New with the warrenty and all, looks nicer compared to the stock. Save the old one as back up.

Certainly can't go wrong with cycle electric as I did the same, the regulator is beefy so if you have a chrome regulator cover put it on the shelf because it wont fit.

From experience, I'd say bite the bullet and replace both (at least). I've been stranded too many times with stator/regulator problems. Two weeks ago I just finished installing the entire Cycle Electric package (stator/rotor/regulator) on my '03 Electra Glide. A little expensive but it works great and I don't expect to have to replace it.

I vote for the Cycle Electric one too. High quality product. How confident are you it'sthe stator that's bad. Hardly every hear of a bad 07 stator, but with a Harley.. the Voltage Regulators are most common failure.

I bought a Cycle Electric stator and will match it up with a CE regulator. Lucky for me my indy owes me some $$ so he is going to do the labor for me. I was kinda looking forward to doing this one myself but hey, why pass up a free install?

No, you don't "have to" replace the regulator.
But regulators have been known to kill stator.
Is it worth gambling on an old regulator after buying and installing a new stator? Wouldn't be for me.
