Default Labor Cost for Clutch pack kit

Hi Folks,

New to this community, but not the Shark! Just wondering if you folks think that I'm being over charged by a local independent mechanic for this:

1. Ordering and replacing Clutch Pack Kit with Barnett Clutch Pack.
2. Inner Primary had a leak, so ordering main gasket and replacing.

I got quoted for $990 which I think might be equivalent to the Stealership. Any thoughts?

It's for my RG Custom 2010.

Thanks!

It does include the parts. So that price for both parts and labor.

I was misled by your thread title. That price doesn't seem outta line to me total, but rather than ask guys all around the world, I think I'd get some quotes from some dealers and indies in your area. Keep in mind that I live in SoCal, where labor rates go from $85.00 and up. So I might not be the best source.

WELL, THAT little bit of additional info chaNGED your entire thread.
With that info, $990 is a pretty decent deal, I think.

Agreed. ..more expensive out here. If you're near Ventura, yoi might check out Marks Custom Cycle on Callens Road...last time he worked for me, his hourly was $65

Sometimes specifics change everything.
For example :
1-What is the part number of your Barnett Clutch pack?
You would then be able to google possible part cost.
2-A primary gasket might be $35-$60 including some fluid for parts.
But later you mention it is parts and labor, is that with tax and shop/rag fee.
3-Later, we learn there is a shifter shaft that will be changed...what do you mean by shifter shaft? what is the part number? One possible part is by your foot and is an easy to replace $25 item while the other is located at the transmission and is labor intensive to change if it is the shaft and not the lever at the transmission shaft. The lever at the shaft ($25 part) strips before the shaft and on a six speed you would not need to remove primary because of indent on back of primary that allows removal of lever.
Finally, why are you changing items?
The leak/gasket is understandable but are other items worn-out? monster motor?
Specifics change everything.
Here is a link to a parts finder to better understand the parts on your bike:
