Default '89 FLHTCUI Price Check

Ok heres the story and I'm hoping you guys might be able to help me out with this. I have a chance to pick up an '89 Ultra Tour Classic, bike looks great doesn't smoke or rattle in any of the wrong places, catches its gears, electronics all work and its loaded with accessories, I can't find anything wrong with the bike other than a very small tear in the seat. Now here comes the but, it has 66,000 miles on it. I have really no idea what the life of these new HD motors is or even what the market price might be for the bike. The guy who has it is asking $8000, which to me seems like a real deal for a touring bike. So any advice would be really appreciated.

Depending on how well the bike was maintained, you should have many miles left before a top end overhaul might be in order. Even then your only lookin at $300 in parts and an equal amount in labor. I'd say it sounds like a good deal.

If it's basicly stock, sanely ridden and well maintained a TC can do double that milage with out worry. I see 'em almost every day. Of course you only have the sellers word and your inspection to go by.

Ace sounds like a good deal, the 89 EVO motors are a good motor and 66k is nothing on a well maintain scooter, I know of a guy with a 94 scooter that has 125k and has done only minor repairs. Buy a manual for your bike and I would change all the fluids so that way you know when the fluids was last changed.

In Canada they would ask 15k which would translate into about 12,500US$.
I pair 16,500cdn for my 1993 with 35,000miles

Sounds good.

Hey really appreciate all the input from you guys. 100k miles on a Harley I never would have imagined that one. I love the old bikes and can strip'em down to the last bolt and rebuild them blindfolded but this new one, I was standing there scratching my head thinking "Hmmm...I wonder how you fill the tank?" lol-DUH
Thanks again for all the input!
