Decision, decisions..
I'm trading my xl1200c for a new Street Glide (vivid black) which comes in this week. On my XL I did the stage one myself and am running a PCIII, the SE Air and a set of SE II Pipes I was still able to find on Ebay. Pretty simple stuff and I like doing my own wrenching when I can.
So today, I went by the dealership to talk to the parts guy about what he would recommend performance wise -nice guy and he has a Street Glide also..
So we're talking and he has a set of Rhinehart True Duals in Stock and has been sitting on a SERT too. I could go ahead and do the Duals now with the Sert, SE Air, and a dyno but it's pricy...The good thing though is that I could add it to the 3.99 financing package (I'm financing about 10k with my paid up trade). He also suggested the 2 into 1's but I'm not sure I like the look..
Now I like the sound of the pipes so I have no issue with that ..but according to some posts here the true duals can rob lower end torque - BUT some of those posts though were from people running the TC88 as opposed to the 96 so I'm wondering if that makes a difference? Low end torque is important to me because I want to use this bike for around town driving too.
As an option, I've though of rolling my own and doing the slips-on, SE air (maybe) and a PC III. The only thing that makes me hesitant about the PCII though is eliminating the 02 sensors and I haveexperienced hesitation from a dead stop with my 07 before and read posts on that here also.
So my question is this..assuming you had the $$ to go ahead and do the upgrades - would you bike the bullet early on a new bike or would you wait it out and do your own upgrade? I almost fell like a RUB
by letting a dealer do all this up front but I can get it at the low interest rate and be done..
Man, decisions...decisions!

I have heard the same as you about the true dual set up, but don't like the look of just one pipe. I saw recently that the fat cat 2-1 has a ghost pipe you can put on the left side, for looks. So, if I ever get tired of my slip ons, I will be going this route. I, personally, would not suggest financing any modifications along with your bike, no matter how good your rate is. From all the post I have read, it does need to be done sooner than later, but wouldn't want to pay on it for 3-5-6 years. But, that is just my opinion. Good luck with the new bike.
That's probably some good advice about rolling the upgrade fees into the financing agreement. I was thinking about this last night and how expensive doing all this up front is.
I think I am going to wait until I have the bike, then I'll probably look at a set of Slip-ons, the SE Air and a PC III.

I would not get the SE AC. I did, and wish I had gotten the AN BS. With the AN, you can get the chrome bracket. Now, I want to run an open element, and will have to buy the chrome bracket, seperate. JMHO
As far as the low end torque thing. I know people say TDs will rob some low end torque and I dont have any numbers to back this up but I really didnt notice it.
