Default New SG

I'm new to this site and new to HD. My SG is being shiped mid April and I need to know more about pipes and air cleaner change. The dealer recomends SE slip ons and SE air filter to open it up. It's injected (and will come with the 25 degree inj). Is this the best combo or is the dealer looking for more $?

Nice to meet you I am also new to this site. I have owned three harleys and everytime the dealer wants you to buy there stuff. Nothing bad about SE .I just sold my FLSTFand bought the new Streetglide.I am using Rhineharts true duals ,SE stage 1 and HD commamnder. The sound is incredible and smooth as silk on acceleration. I went with this setup after many hours of investigating. However VH offers the big shot true duals wich a friend of mine has and they are right up there with mine and about $300 cheaper.

Hi Spoke54 ,welcome. The best combo is a matter of personal preference, and theres a bunch of real helpful people here to help with your decision, as well as past posts to look through on this related subject. A suggestion is to see if your dealer will let you hear various bikes they have in their shop with different exhaust systems, thats what I did, and it saves you $$ if you dont like what you bought before knowing what they sound like. Lots of air cleaners too, K&N has a new one that might be worth checking out. Above all, and most will concur, stay away from the HD download, and go straight for PCIII, SERT, V&H Fuelpak, etc. Most of all enjoy the bike and the music that it makes, Rob.

If ya like FAT TRUE DUALS with ZERO clamps, see below. Very satisfied with the quality/performance/sound, along with the Screamin' Eagle Pro air cleaner/breather.

Congrats on the SG...you'll love it!

As for exhaust, I am partial to V&H. I've had a few bikes and went between SE and V&H products. In my opinion, you cannot beat the V&H value (quality built, great chrome, excellent performance to cost mix).

HD is also said to be discontinuing SE mufflers if that makes any difference to you (it would not make a difference to me, but thought you'd like to know).

Thanks for all the help. This site is awesome. I have ridden Jap bikes all my life until a friend last summer gave me his fatboy to try. I'm hooked. I can't wait to get the SG. The first time I sat on it I knew I had to have it.

I need more info on the download. Are you saying there is a program you buy and use yourself. Or does someone else map it for you?

Congratulations. Since you are new to harley here are some good sites to read. My HD is my first and this site helped me pick a bike and has provided a wealth on information afterwards.

Welcome to the forum.

SE Slipons are a good sounding exhaust. I had them and loved that I could go 80mph on the highway and still be able to listen to my passenger/radio. I decided to go to V&H True Duals w/Ovals because I love the look and hope they sound as good as the SE's once they get installed in the next week or 2. I'm waiting on some parts to come in the mail.

I'm not sure you will get any facts on here about what is the BEST exhaust, just alot of opinions on what people THINK is the best.

I'm not sure anyone has posted up after having the NEW injectors and the HD Dowload to say if they were having any problems or not still. The BEST setup would be to buy a programmer SERT or PCIII and have the bike dyno tuned to get the most out of your mods.
