Split vision mirrors and view with trailer
I have some HD gift cards that I got for Christmas burning a hole in my pocket. Thinking of buying a pair of split vision mirrors with the thought that I will have better rear vision while pulling my trailer. - (New to trailering, and will be pulling one to do some camping this spring and summer and then to Sturgis).
Drawback is, I have my bike blacked out for the most part, and these only come in chrome.
Anyone use these? If so, what are your thoughts, will they give me better vision of my trailer? And will they make a big enough difference to over shadow the looks of having chrome mirrors on a blacked out bike?

No input on the trailering piece but buddy has them and loves them. He's always 2 up and his wife has a good view from the back as well. Could always get them powder coated, I had a set of buckshot mirrors done a few years ago, came out great.
save the money on powder coat. use some plastic-dip. then if you ever need/want to, just peel off the black and you have chrome again. i've got several items that i have sprayed on my bike, the chrome elbow on the se heavy breather, the front turn signals, and the fairing supports (so far)
I bought and installed them thinking I would get more coverage of traffic in the blind spots. I read the reviews on the H-D website and read that some riders claimed they were great, while a few commented that the smaller outside mirror gave the same angle of view as the larger inside mirror and that they were poorly designed. I agree with the few that said there was no difference in coverage. I still have to look over my shoulders to make sure there are no vehicles in my blind spots before changing lanes. I kept them because they have slotted stems that match other slotted pieces on my bike. They may work great for you in being able to see your trailer, though I can't say for sure.
I have them on my Ultra Classic love the way they preform for me they remove the blind spots one of the best upgrades i did. Being a truck driver i cloud definitely see were these mirrors would work great pulling a trailer any extra vision you can acquire is a big help when pulling a trailer of any kind. I have them installed on my 08 ultra and at first they were a little tough to get use to but now that I am use to them I wouldn't own anything else. I also have a bushtec trailer hookup as I borrow my friends trailer from time to time. We both trailered out to Sturgis and I did have the mirrors on the bike and from my memory it was nice having them to keep an eye on the trailer.
as well you should. i know i was taught in driver's ed to always make a quick glance over my shoulder before changing lanes, just to make sure that there wasn't somebody in a blind spot. i don't care how good your mirrors are, you should still do that check.

When I was having trouble with blind spots and seeing behind me I looked at those. After looking I didn't think they would help much. I decided my mirrors were just not placed properly. I used these to move the mirrors up and out. They helped tremendously.
Oh, and I agree with scratch, whatever you do, keep looking over your shoulders anyway.

Maybe. I don't look over my shoulders when I'm in my F-350. The side convex mirrors are more than adequate to see everything on the side of the truck. The H-D split-vision mirrors still leave blind spots because the outside mirrors aren't convex enough. Even if they were, I'd still glance over my shoulders.
