Default Brake light modulators

I put a "Back Off" modulator on my Aspencade so I didn't get booted from behind. Once I get the Electra Glide, I plan on doing the same. I've found a number of them to be plug and play, and others require splicing into the wiring. I'm good with either. Of those of you that have them, which brands seem to work best? Do you find the plug and plays work as well as the spice models, and vice versa? Price is another issue. I've found them everywhere from $34 to $90. Do the expensive models really work that much better?

As I'm fairly new to Harley, are there brake lights on the Tour Pack, or just off the rear fender? Thanks everyone.

Have Custom Dynamics in my RGS. Can't go wrong and it is plug and play.

And yes, brake lights are on the TP.

Back off by Signal Dynamics have been around a long time. I use one on my Yukon’s center mounted brake light.

Have a kuryakyn run/turn/brake controller. All plug and play, including the harness for the tourpak. Last I checked, they had them on sale for $60

I've had the Bright *** brake light in the past and it is a good unit. Very bright with several different modes to choose from. But it is just a brake light & sells for a lot more than the prices you're looking at.

I recently bought the Custom Dynamics units. Brake light and running lights are all LEDs, are on all the time, and they all flash at the same time when the brakes are applied. Many different patterns to choose from. If the directionals are being used, only the center brake light flashes. Their newer brake light, the one that looks like neon tubes in it, is much brighter than their previous model. Once again, this set-up would be pricier than what you quoted.

Custom Dynamics has a flasher unit for Tour Paks. Have seen it on several bikes around here and its an attention grabber. This one would be right in the middle of your price range.

Bought a simple modulator unit for something like $5. Spent more than that on a set of plugs and wire pins. Made my own plug and play unit.

Dont need something with a bunch of different flash modes. A simple three flashes and then steady works fine for me.

Welcome! And, thank you for your service as well.

BAL or Custom Dynamics are both very very good. I use the BAL-1 which is the earlier model and it’s an all LED unit. Brake light and running light. The BAL-2 is brighter but more $$. BAL-1 is plug-n-play, programmable, and very easy to install.

Custom Dynamics makes great quality bright tail and signal lights. They also have several modulators with multiple settings that are plug and play. Very happy with the setup on my Street Glide. Lifetime warranty as well.
