Mmmhmm, I’ve some oil cans, the better part of half a century old. What is in there has changed appreciably, probably due to evaporation. It is now a jellied tar. Oil does indeed change over time.

which is really nothing to worry about in oil just a few years old.

I have been sending my oil in for testing on my vehicles. My Golf R was changed around 14 months and 4k miles. Sits in a somewhat climate garage. Test came back no issues. It's full synthetic. My diesel ram I sent it in at 10k miles, roughly 6mo. Regular oil truck sits outside and is driven hard. They said I could push the mileage so I'm going up to 14k this time and see how it looks.
