Then found a bar that was as close to a match as I could.
I set the pvc mock up right on top of the frame in front of the tank. There is just enough gap to feed it through. Picture below.
My problem was mostly height and wrist angle. I wanted something taller, perhaps a little wider at the grip, and grip angle straighter than stock.
That's actually a brilliant idea. See if the admin can make that a sticky or something. Would help quite a few people looking at doing new bars.

The pullback on the stock bars is especially bad for a big guy. I am 6'5" and it was extremely painful to ride for any time at all. I replace the stock bars with the HD Chizzeled Low bars and they are great. The hand position is about the same as stock, but the pull back is much less and fits me to a tee. I installed myself. I have a RGU, and it took 1 hr 15 min.

another tip I got from a member here was before doing any install, turn the bars over and use a dremel to make the hole bigger at the bottom where the riser clamp will go. It makes pulling the bundle of wires much easier.

Khrome works has the best, of all the manufacturers I have researched, diagrams of specs. Take a look at those to get an idea of how things are measured and pay attention to how the different manufacturers are measuring their bars as far as from where to where in the bar.
