I got the special race tool but race walked(twice) that it needed a dremel anyway so just used the dremel method. worked great just go a littel slow..race cracks and falls right off. got tired of that mess and like you had it on order but still got the baker(3k miles now)...new HD race bearing and special tool just collecting dust on the shelf

Kinda hoping to re-use outer primary gasket.....them things are not cheap wtf. Wondering what most do (?)
Goal was to put in a primary chain tensioner (Southern Hot Bikes) and get a few other things remedied that require pulling the inner while I;m in there.

Our high torque bearing kit only fits up to 2007 in 08 Harley changed the diameter of the mainshaft.

Thanks. Yea wasn't sure if it was like my 08....

Just happen to read through this old thread......
The year is important. The Shovelhead/EVO/Early Twincam 5-speed transmission shifter shaft seals one could use a sheet metal screw to remove. I don't think that is possible on the later model Twincams with the 6-speed transmission. The transmission shifter shaft seal changed, and the later model Twincam's (6-speed transmission) seal has a much smaller lip. There is no way I could drill into it without damaging the shaft. I just used a small pick to pull out the seal.
The Cometic C9259 shifter shaft seal is for HD 1980 - 2006 models.
Cometic C9354F5 is for HD 2006-UP Dyna, 2007-Up FL,FXST
That's a great idea! I did something similar. I had the Georges Garage primary bearing remover and installer tool. This tool according to the information on Georges's Garage website is for 84-06 FXST/FLST 85-06 FLT/FLHT/FXR/FXD/FXDWG. I adapted it to work on my Twincam. I was able to easily press out and in the primary bearing and seal.
There have been other threads on this forum detailing the use of a threaded rod along with a generic bearing/seal installation kit, which is a much cheaper tool solution.
Yep. I used a 1-3/16" Urrea impact socket (#
)
The same socket size to remove the clutch hub nut.
2. Once you pull the inner primary off, it should be sort of obvious if any seals are leaking. The shifter shaft seal is by itself so it will be obvious. I just did all the trans seals on my EVO. Yours may or may not be the same. There is a shifter shaft seal. You pull it by drilling a small hole for a sheet metal screw then screwing it in and pull out with pliers.
...
Good luck. Remember, my example is for an EVO. A twin cam might be different for the last two seals but the shifter shaft seal looks exactly the same.

yeah,I bought it several years ago.paid for itself plus the convienence and knowing the job was done right. Fun tool to have on hand.
Works great on many bearings. I had to put a large socket that was the same diamiter as the ipb in there I believe but it worked fine.
one day im going to try it on the neck bearings and swing arm bearings but not sure if it can do those....?
