Same deal for my on my ‘12 Limited. Have used them often over the 50K miles since I bought this bike without an issue. Don’t think I’ve ever set them past 2 and I’m about 120 miles from Canada😀

No one has mentioned installing the Heat Demon controllers. I installed them on both my 05 and 08 ultras and except for a faulty wire break on controller side I have had no other issues. For those that don't know about them, they allow you to use what ever grips you want and give you 4 heat settings. If you have just a little bit of mechanical knowledge you can have these installed in about 2hrs start to finish.

I had them on a used 12 flhx I bought in ‘14, first time using them and I fell in love with them. So much so that when I totaled the FLHX in ‘15 and bought my Roadie I had the dealer install the heated grips before delivery. My left side grip failed this spring (controller side) so they quit. I just replaced them with the new Kahunas after trying unsuccessfully to trouble shoot the plain ones. Turns out I can get a replacement left side only, found the repair parts list in the new instructions. Guess the wife’s trike will get the take off ones after I order a new left side... Honestly, with as much as I use mine, 3 years isn’t bad for a resistance heating element if you as me.

I have Moco heated grips on my bike that just quit working again. Looking through the receipts from the previous owner, he had them replaced twice already. Heated gloves arrived the other day, will go that route instead.
