Went for a ride today and I had to put on the brakes hard because of a car cutting me off
When I did this the back breaks would not grab, hard to explain it happened so fast but it would grab off and on but not slowing me down much
Any thoughts?
To tell you the truth IMHO, the fact the rear brakes did not grab hard was a blessing.
I have had multiple instances on my 03 where the rear brakes locked when hitting them hard and fast, making me get off them before I low sided,
As mentioned above, most of the braking is done by the front brakes, and as the bike stops in a hard stop, the rear end gets "light" as the weight transfers to the nose, and when that happens the rear will lock.... and you don't want that.
Your rear Anti Locking Brake System kicked in, front brakes have most of the stopping power.
Learn to use all of your stopping power in a parking lot somewhere, it can save your life.
