I bought a new 7090007B Speedo Tach as my existing has a water intrusion issue. The existing was from JP cycle that they sent me with the odometer set. I could not get the miles to transfer to the new speedo. It was stuck on 0% tried every thing including talking to local Harley shop. I remembered I still had the orginal 2006 speddomter in a cabinet. I went ahead and installed the orginal speedo that had 580 miles in it when I replaced it and transfer worked flawlessly. My issue now is that the new 7090007B reads 580 miles and not the 26219 that the last one reads. I want to be honest and get the new odometer correct. Thoughts?

 

Once you get past a certain point, miles does not matter much, but it can become an issue when it comes to the title, where you have to check the box that says "true mileage unknown" because you can not get the odometer to match the document.

It is when you claim low mileage you are doing something questionable. If at any point you want to sell the bike, you tell them the true mileage is X plus 26,799.

I went roundy round with an adjuster the other day, a 2012 car we could not get the mileage on due the battery being disconnected... if we powered the car up the fuel pump would have sprayed fuel at 50 PSI... the shop said the car had 161K miles. The adjuster was giving me sh*t to which I responded "why would a shop give me an inflated mileage that will drive the value of the car down. If anything he would say it had 61K on it. He had no reason to lie"
