Default 2006 Electra-Glide Classic (Wont Start)

Hi Everybody,

I'm new to the forum and I hope someone can help. My bike simply wont start. When I hit the run switch I do not hear the Fuel Pump priming.
I checked the wires from the fuse box to the the fuel pump with a test light- I get voltage.
When I checked the wires from the fuse box to the run switch -I get voltage
I checked the fuel pump relay - I get voltage. I even bought a new fuel pump relay from my HD Dealer - wont start but power is
still going to the run switch because the test light turns on and off with the run switch - fuel pump still will not engage
I partially put the relay in the fuse box and checked with a test light - It's allowing voltage to the fuel pump and the run switch - but the bike still wont start.
It will turn over but not start.
Here's the kicker - If I take the relay out and run a jumper line I hear the fuel pump kick on. Plug in the relay - nothing again. (BTW- this is my 3rd NEW relay switch and a new fuel pump - I'm not buying another one)
I'm not a mechanic - but I'm thinking maybe the ECM took a dump?? Any thoughts ??

Thank you again - any advice, help, solutions, much appreciated

Hi Scott welcome to the forum. I'll post a couple schematics.

There is no fuel relay, it's the system relay. When you turn the off/run to run with ignition on the system relay should energize allowing voltage from the ecm fuse go through the Fuel pump fuse and run the pump. The relay is grounded through the ECM. If you Have 12V on the white / black wire at the system relay the Green Orange wire should be common to ground through ECM. If you jump 1 -6 or 3 -6 on the relay the pump should run.

Check to see if the GN/O wire is common to grd with ign on and off/run to run with relay pulled and fuel pump fuse is OK.

does it start when the fuel pump kicks on? if not try old school. take breather off shoot a shot of fuel in the throttle body. does it fire up then? if not pull the spark plug wire and make sure you have spark. depending on what you find. check wires to injectors, pull fuel pump and check ………...

Hello All,

Well - we checked all of the wiring, along with continuity checking, and it wound up being the ECM. The previous owner had a power commander put on the bike. I guess the power commander shorted and took the ground out
of the fuel pump. We replaced the ECM- the fuel pump engaged and primed. Started right up. I will NOT put another fuel commander on this bike.

Thank you all for your advise. I hope this helps someone else.

Best,
