Made the appointment
Made my appointment for the 1000 mile check and "Stage 1"
RH True Duals
Arlen Ness Big Sucker
SERT
Service advisor says should go from around 65 HP to 75HP.
Service recommended waiting for the 5000 miles before changing to Synthetic, has anyone heard that before.

Yeah, they say not to usesyn oilsuntil 3k or 5k(I forget which). I think Redline even puts this on the bottle. The idea is to give the engine more time to break in.

Is that what they say about the Synthetic, you shouldn"t use it until after the bike has 1K to 3K on it my 2005 Road King has had synthetic since the first dervice I now have 7.5K no problems!! Yer scarin me, Bill

Redline and Amsoil(and the other's I assume) recommend holding offa few thousand miles before switching to the syn oil. But others have gone with the syn at the 1k and haven't had problems. If your bike is not using any oil, I wouldn't be concerned. And if you went to HD Syn3 at the 1k, that's not a 100% syn oil, it's a hybrid of dino and syn.

SOOOOOO if thats true with synthetics, you need to WAIT for the engine to break in before installing it.....who is gonna break the news to BMW, MERCEDES BENZ, PORSCHE, CHEVROLET AND DAIMLER CHRYSLER ABOUT THAT??????? MOBIL 1 is factory fill on these European models AND CORVETTE and VIPER!!!
Its a myth....just plain and simple.....that started YEARS ago when synthetics first were introduced. I bet our local AMSOIL GUY can bring up some DYNO info that will support the break in myth also.
Dont be afraid of it, its not gonna hurt your engine... unless better lubrication, cooler temps, and more HP is gonna hurt it

Me? I put Amsoil in at 1,000 miles on last 3 bikes and never looked back.
I had Syn3 in mine at 1k(not a true syn oil) and switched to Redline at 3500 miles and have been using it ever since. I see no reason to chance going with the pure syn too early and just wait a few thousand miles.

Is it bad to wait a 1,000 miles or so....NO, not at all.
Will it hurt to change at 10 miles or so....No not at all.
Ive talked to LOTS of oil guys and racecar guys alike. Some of the old diehards say to wait cause its not gonnna let the engine break in properly cause of the synthetic being to slippery....not real scientific. Then ive talked to DYNO guys some of you guys will recognize the product called POLYDYN TX-7. you see it sometimes in the back of hot rod magazines, one of the founders of that product was telling me about DYNO runs with conventional oil, synthetic oil, then with synthetic and the TX-7. All were on NEW motors and the synthetic made more HP than the conventional, and the combo of both made the most.
I put synthetic oil in every combustion engine I own... except the lawn mower ..... I want a new one and the damn thing wont die

Use calibration 67 and have dealer max out the completeCLB table. How good is your tuner? Most of them will screw up a basic install. IMO ditch the "Chinese" a/c from Ness and go with the K&N (RK 3909). It will pay dividends down the road.
