Default Head buffeting

Over the years I've read many posts on this and other forums relating to head buffeting and how riders replace windscreens to combat it. I've been riding bikes with windshields since 1983 and have yet to experience the head buffeting phenomenon. I'm 5'-11" and have ridden with full face, 3/4, and now a half helmet. My current bike is a '15 Ultra Limited and I've opened and closed the fairing vent multiple times and find no noticeable difference in wind. My head seems to be steady and my vision is always clear. All of the bikes I've had over the years (metrics and Harley's) had stock windscreens and I never switched to one to eliminate head buffeting. I guess I just don't get the concept of head buffeting or MAYBE I just enjoy being in the wind. Am I the only one that don't get the concept?

You have to go over 30 MPH to experience head buffeting.

Nope, you're right on. Buffeting helps the snowflakes strengthen their neck mussels.

U started a thread to say you are awesome. But buffet is real like the death wobble, if it never happened to u doesn't mean it don't. I don't normally get it but once in a while I will with a full-faced. It's not that it shakes my head, it shakes the helmet to where it blur's vision.

I have a popular recurve shield on my Ultra. I am experiencing much more head buffeting than with the stock shield. Just saying.....As far as helmets go my Scorpion 1/2 helmet sits much better on my head in the wind than my HJC 1/2 did. The HJC moved around too much in the wind.

I only get buffeting when my visor is fully opened. Otherwise my Arai is very stable.

If you’ve never felt head buffeting, it feels like someone is constantly tapping the top of your helmet with the palm of their hand.
Maybe you’ve felt it but just are hard headed! Lol

If you're running a stock shield that is tall, you're unlikely to ever experience it. Many of us, however, don't want a big tall shield to look through.

Just be happy and keep motoring.
