Default RKS vs SGS?

I’m trying to decide on a new bike to replace a Slim S lost due to an accident. Other then the audio system/fairing on the ‘19s does the SGS have anything over the RKS? The extra $5k doesn’t seem to justify the upgrade especially since bother have the 114ci engines.

I’m not really interested in the audio but do like the gauges and touchscreen to use apple car play.

From what I can tell, I think the audio system/fairing are about the biggest/most expensive differences between the two. There might be a couple of minor things like the saddle and handlebars.

Fairing vs no fairing
Radio and audio package vs none
Different gage packages
A little more touring oriented bike vs simplicity
Capability to strip off the windshield and ride naked vs fixed fairing
Both have nice bags
I assume both of the Specials have the shorter shocks - ride lower with a little harsher ride
Don't recall if there is a different front lighting package - does the Street Glide have passing lamps?

Overall, pick your poison. Coming off a Slim maybe you prefer simpler bikes - Road King is it. On the other hand if your ready for something different the Street Glide would be more different for you. Both have nice road chassis.

Had a 2016 Road Glide S, loved it. Now have a 2019 Road King S and love more. Never used the radio or Nav much at all, and prefer seeing more of the road on the King vs. being behind a dashboard on the Road Glide.

The RGS had better wind protection (as would I expect the SGS) but only slightly. Once I found the right windshield and fangs on my King, I’m in smooth, clean air. It did take four tries...

I think you you should ride both a lot. Find a dealer you like and tell them you’re buying one or the other, and want some good saddle time, and no pressure one way or the other. Then ride and decide.

Though I’d get the Road King ;-)

Here’s mine:
