RE: HELP..tying down a 2007 EGC to trailer
I use 2 soft straps on my handlebars down low by the risers. I do not use hooks. My straps have hooks on the bottom where I hook them to the trailer and soft loops at the top on the haldlebars. I then hook 2 in the back under my touring pack to the trailer. Has not come loose in 5 trips. I crank down the front straps compressing the shocks about half way. Use care not to let the straps touch your paint. They will rub and mar your paint.

I have to ask, for the sake of all we hold dear, why trailer the king of the highway? Ride that baby!
You can always have the ol' lady, chopper owners, or whoever drive a chase vehicle just in case or if you are carrying more baggage than the bike can handle.
Don't flame me, you know it had to be said...

In any case, use ratcheting straps. The bike must be tied down in 8 places, 4 at each end. Each end must be tied down high up and as low as possible. the upper 4 corners should be tied down tightly enough to lightly compress the suspension. The lower 4 corners should be tied down tightly enough that the wheels cant slip out from under the bike.
