Default passenger boards heat issue

Hi, anyone know of a solution for the amount of heat generated for the passenger boards on the left side? The pipe is literally right beside their foot.

Footboard spacers to move the boards out, stage 1 and a tune to cool it down, switch pipes to something like the 09 and laters use where the pipe has a crossover going under the bike are a few solutions that can be done by themselves or all together.

Anyone know if this is a straight switch or are modifications involved?

To use a factory head pipe you'd need to change the oil pan and I believe you also need to drill and tap a hole for the hanger. There's a good thread on here somewhere describing the process.

A much easier solution is to get the S&S Power Tune Duals/Khrome Werks head pipe (same pipe). It gives you the new style, under frame exhaust in a bolt on kit. This is the route I'm going to take when I finally get around to doing mine.

The S&S Power tuned duals are the best 'mod' I've ever done to a bike. You won't be sorry!
