Default handlebar adjustment question

Hey guys, I'm wanting to adjust my handlebars on my 2013 Ultra a little more towards me. For those of you who've done this what did you use to loosen the two T40 handlebar screws that can be gotten to by removing the ignition switch cover? There isn't enough room for a T40 bit to fit in the space between the radio and the handlebar clamp. I really don't want to have to remove the batwing just for a handlebar adjustment if I don't have to. Thanks in advance for any help you can give me with this.

Best to just do it right. It's only 7 bolts to pull the outer fairing and 4 more to get the radio out.

I tried to adjust my 2015 limited handlebars by sneaking a cut down hexhead but could not get it done.

So I eventually removed the front fairing, and I forget what else, just followed the maintenance manual, and it was a piece of cake. Was not that hard, and I need to move them another 1 inch.

I was hoping there was a tool designed for this job. Guess I'll just bite the bullet and remove the fairing. I've had the fairing off before and although it's not a big deal it still seems like unnecessary work just to adjust bars.

While you might not find it necessary its just too easy to do it right.

On my 2014, I replaced my bars by removing the windshield and outer fairing, then also removing the filler panel by the key switch. Then I was able to loosen and move the inner fairing forward (lift and move forward) so that I could get at the bars and wiring. It should be in the manual. Not sure if it is same on 2015 or not.

If I remember right (not a given lol), I replaced my clamp torx bolts with Allen heads, so the next time I could get to the two rearmost ones to loosen the bars and retighten. I may have used a piece of Allen wrench with a wrench to loosen/tighten. I do think you have to make sure the bolts aren’t tall enough to hit the radio bottom.

KST offers a video of how to install bars. Towards the end, he makes a good point about how to adjust the bars after you mount the fairing back on the bike. Basically, tighten the top two bolts and leave the bottom two loose, so you can get at them with a ball-end allen after the fairing is back in place. I like @Jerry L 's suggestion to replace with allen bolts anyway. Link to video:

I just replaced the bars on my 2008 and pretty sure I couldn't get to them before I removed the outer fairing and moved the inner one toward the front. Not sure how tight you can get them with a ball allen wrench but maybe. Id prefer my bars don't move up and down while I ride tho
