Default How much did you buy your totaled bike back for?

Hi everyone. I just got broadsided last week and I believe my 2011 Ultra is going to be totalled. Fortunately I came out of it virtually unscathed. I just did headwork, cams and pipes last month so I have a lot of money tied up in the bike, as well as sentimental value. How much can I expect to buy it back for? Truthfully, I'm not sure I want to continue riding so I'm not planning on buying another bike but I'd like to keep mine as I think I can repair it cheaply enough.

Thanks lion. I guess what I'm really wondering is if it's generally available at a reasonable price.

Salvage title makes it about worthless . When I totaled my 2011. All wanted was my check. Was going over what to order with wife while in the Emergency room.. The only real people you see talking up salvage bikes are those trying to flip them. good luck with it.
I still have one saddle bag hanging on the wall. I have the seat adjust said I could keep them. About all that was really worth saving.

When I hit a deer with my Road King Classic I had Progressive insurance, they totaled the bike and I bought it back (can't remember the price but it was worth it to me) I had enough after the buyback to do a complete customization and kept the original title. Was not redone as salvage. I assume each insurance company is different.

I would think it would be worth fixing but have not seen pics. If the frame is not bent you should have no trouble fixing it. try to get them to give you the repair cost and not total it.

Around here salvage titles are determined by the cost of the damage as a percentage of the value of the vehicle. At least that is how they do it with cars, maybe bikes are different. It is law, not up to the insurance agency.

last year, after my 2013 cvo got totaled, i could have bought it back from the ins co. for somewhere in the neighborhood of $3500. at that point, i didn't even want to mess with it anymore. i just took the full payout and got me a new bike.

Each State is different WI : most have requirements some thing like it.
A certified salvage title inspector must inspect repaired vehicles titled as salvage. Inspections ensure the vehicle and its individual parts are not stolen, have proper equipment and are in safe operating condition (see Wisconsin Administrative Code Trans 149).
Chapter Trans 149 list what the required inspection are. cars and motorcycles. What does "SALVAGE VEHICLE" mean?

A Wisconsin brand that is placed on a vehicle title for a vehicle that is less than seven model years old and damaged to the extent that the estimated or actual cost, whichever is greater, of repairing the vehicle exceeds 70% of its fair market value OR, any vehicle, regardless of age, that was last titled in Wisconsin as salvage (unless applying for a rebuilt salvage title) or in another state as salvage. A salvage vehicle is one that does not meet the definition of a junked vehicle and may receive registration upon successful completion of a repaired salvage vehicle inspection.

Insurance wanted to hold back way more than I wanted to part with so I took the full payout on my deer vs. Road King incident last summer. I did manage to buy the bike back at insurance auction tho for substantially less than the hold-back amount. Progressive was going to deduct somewhere around $3k for me to keep it and I scored it for less than $2k at auction.
