Ultimate Seats update
A while back a post was made about Ultimate seats for Harleys. The buyer was very happy with the comfort of the seat, but everyone pretty much agreed that the looks left something to be desired. It was mentioned that Ultimate Seats was going to change the stitching pattern on the Harley seats. Well, mine arrived today. I chose to try this seat as a replacement for a HD Sundowner that I was pretty happy with, but the wife was uncomfortable on. I have previously had the stock seat on a EG Classic, which had been extensively reworked by an uphostry shop, the stock Street Glide seat, and my Sundowner. The Sundowner was the best so far for me, but I still wanted off at the 100 mile mark. It was simply too hard, shallow and (we think) Narrow for the wife.
In addition, I have yet to find a rider backrest from HD that works for me. Ive tried the standard type, and the adjustable. Neither worked very well, with the adjustable being worse, and enroaching worse on the wifes space on the bike.
Ive owned Corbins before, and wont again. "needs time to break in" my ***. Might as well take the seat off and ride on the frame rails. Strongly considered the Mustang, but feared that the back would be too firm for the wife, and Ill be back having it reworked like before. But should the Ultimate not work out, the Mustang is the next option.
Anyway, the Ultimate is made with tempur (memory) foam. It is very well built. Fits the bike very well, even better at the nose than the Sundowner did. Here are some photos of the seat, on the bike, and next to the Sundowner. It is definatly not as good looking as the Sundowner, but it looks quite a bit better with the revised stitching IMHO. I will say, that I don't know if I could get past the looks if I was not running a tour pack on the bike. But since I am, I dont think its too bad looking. It looks more squarish and bulky in the photos that it does in person. Ive tried to get angles that show the seat.
Ill be putting some miles on it this weekend, and will report back, but my first impression is, its going to be a winner. Seating position seems to be slightly higher than the Sundowner, but no higher than the stock bagger seats. I think Im about a half an inch further forward than the the Sundowner, with that room given back to the passenger, which was one of the problems with my Sundowner. I dont feel any higher or further forward than with any of the stock Eglide seats. Just compared to the Sundowner, which moves the rider down and back from the stock seat. Plenty of room for the wife (5'4" 130-140 lbs) to fit without being mashed up to the rider backest. Good contouring where both her and my legs go.

Looks good, do you mind if I ask how much for the seat and back rest? Was the close to HD's?

It was $665 for the seat and rider backrest. So about the same as the Sundowner and (useless) Harley rider backrest.

They have not updated the website to show the new stitch pattern yet. Short nose seats (Roadking/StreetGlide) are shipping, long nose seats (Electra and Road Glide) he said should be ready at Sturgis. Tour pack backrests will be next spring however.
This is a smaller company that got started a few years back doing recovers of Honda VTX seats, and has progressed into other models, makes, etc. They are great to work with.
There is a 14 day satisfaction return policy. 100 percent refund if your not happy and return the seat undamaged. 20 percent restocking fee if you do damage the seat in some way.
I don't see where it looks bad at all.
I like the look. It looks tight like a seat should look.
I am seriously considering buying one also.
Price is steep, but I think it'smuch better quality than HD.

I wish you luck, I purchased an Ultimate seat a few years back for my Valkyrie when I attended a meet in Zanesville Ohio. On the way back from Ohio my a$$ felt like it was burning, it was the most uncomfortable feeling. I had to stop at 100 mile intervals justto get home. The riding position was good, but it just burned, needless to say I went back to Mustang seats.
I have had one of Des, seats on all my Valkyries for years.
Last year road to Colorado and the southwest on it and
felt fine after 600 mile days.Just like the butts that go them
it.s up to you.Would love to try one on my Street glide

If you have any reservation regarding the Ultimate Seat, go to www.valkyrieforum.com. It t is the #1 choice of the Valkyrie riders.
I have had Diamond Seats on 2 GW's and now have one on my Valkyrie dresser. Will have something different on the Ultra next season. The stock seat isn't good for 100 miles.
