Default Factory Headset

2018 Ultra Limited Factory Headset. It works good enough for my use. I bought a second one for the wife (passenger) and hers works way better than mine. Both plug in. The issue with mine is that it has to be set high enough (voice activation?) to filter out mic wind noise and I have to turn the setting down to talk to her. Hers works perfect but the wind kills mine. It kills the radio because it mutes when activated by the wind because I guess it thinks you're talking. Anyone have a cure for this? New foam for the mic maybe or what has everyone else been doing that still uses these? I don't want to really want to buy a new system. I also change between a couple of helmets depending on season/temps. So permanently mounting something is kinda out of the question too. I have 1/2 helmet, 3/4 helmet and a modular one as well. Thanks.

Add the Push to Talk (PTT) button and deactivate the Voice Activation(VOX). It works great.
VOX was one of the reasons that Bluetooth headsets fail for me. I hate it.

Thanks! I'll have to check into that.

Some have replied adding extra foam over the mic helps a lot. Also adding something to the front side of the mic picture a plastic spoon head end over the front of the mic.

I chose the lighted hand controls because I like them, and they come with the PTT button.

Had the same issue. I kept adjusting the VOX on both mics and just could not dial it in. So, read something here and suggested turn VOX off or all the way to baseline and just use PTT for comms. So far that works for us, much like keying a mic button. Oh by the way, very nice ride. I have a 15 same color. I sure like the rims.

Thanks for the compliments. But those rims are a PITA to clean though.

Once installed, does it need additional parts/programming from HD?

Should be recognized & work w/o any flash? You may wish to consider swapping Cruise & PTT functions side to side? The PTT is easier to use when it's on the left side. That requires a flash to swap those functions side to side.

Does it affect the passenger VOX? Or does that work as normal?
