Default Bluetooth adapter for 2012

I bought a 2012 this weekend. It doesn’t have a CD player like my ‘03 did. And I don’t think it has Bluetooth.

Anybody use a Bluetooth adapter like this?

My son says he uses a similar one on his boat but I’m wondering if this would tolerate the vibration of a Harley.

It’s funny that my CD player never worked that great, because the bike vibrated so much, and now that this bike vibrates less, there is no CD player.

I've used those before on cars. Work pretty good.

I'm going to give this a try. If it doesn't work well on the bike I have 2 boats and 2 cars that don't have bluetooth either.

Thing with those types of Bluetooth adapters is they rarely have the advertised battery life and they put stress on the Aux port of the radio which will eventually stop working. Have tried it thus, ask how I know. Anyway, I installed an Isimple unit inside the faring and it's powered by the cig lighter so it powers up when the ignition is switched on. Initially just ran the 3.5mm jack.cord out the grommet where the handle bar exits the fairing then to front of radio. Later did a mod to the radio and put a 3.5mm port out the back of the radio so everything is now inside the fairing.

As a footnote; Do you have the stock radio? If so it should have a CD player under the plastic flap on the top above the LCD screen.

Here's the Bluetooth unit now used: Isimple Isbt23 Musicstream Audio Receiver

I used one just like that for years on my 2005 Ultra, worked great.

I’m on a Road King now and using Bluetooth from phone to wireless earbuds.

a 2012 should have a cd player!

if rocking the original stereo, metra does a nifty bluetooth module (hd-bt01) that works with the hand controls.

I'll check. I just removed the chrome trim, maybe that was blocking it.

Just checked. Oh, Duh! That flap is a lot smaller than the one on my '03, so I didn't realize there was anything under there. Awesome!

I have one of those and battery lasts all day riding. It’s definitely a nice and SIMPLE option to play music from your phone.

I used one of these on my 2011 Ultra. also used a USB charger adapter to charge the unit. worked flawlessly and cheap too!

I have a 2012 FLHTK and here is what I did. I moved the aux cable to the rear of the radio, bit of soldering but an easy mod. Then mounted this in the fairing. It's way better than those cheaper battery operated Bluetooth adapter and you can use it in the rain.
