Drain plug chain case
My manual indicates to screw in the plug tight to .160 - .180 but mine is NOT tight. It's loose no matter. The threads is NOT stripped.
it's always been that way.
As well why would there be a small ball on the end of the plug....and the end of it spins as well??
What I've been doing is applied thread locker to the threads and then a little silicone to the end to insure it does not come out.
any ideas??

Harley Part Number 739.
The little ball in the end is a magnet.
It is a tapered pipe plug, over torquing can crack the case.
The service manual says to install so that it is .160-.180 above surface of case, I have never checked how far above the surface of the case it is when installed.
I have always wrapped the threads with teflon tape and snug down.

I use a PTS (pipe thread sealant) on my 02 Dyna primary drain. The PTS seals and prevents the plug from backing out. If your plug isn't snugging up at all it's possible the case could have a small crack at the threads. The primary is non -pressurized and the oil doesn't normally go any wear else, i.e. tiny passages.
