Do what tphillips says. Also get your self a throttlerocker from......wait for it......www.throttlerocker.com. I think they are still $10 delivered. I used mine for a few rides because I had the same problem with my hand going numb. The throttlerocker lets you use the weight of your palm to rotate the right grip. And the most important thing it does is lets you relax your right hand. No more death grip. You learn to switch your gip constantly and your hand won't go numb anymore. I keep it in the windshield bag but rarely feel a need to use it.
Or course if they made an aftermarket cruise control for an '01 RKC I'd have me one of them tomorrow.

iso grips w/throttle boss is a great invention and a less $$ to help with the numbness. I don't remember where I seen it but there is a new throttle lock that operates from a magnet so you can easily return the throttle with ease. The normal throttle lockswill work but you need to set it with less fricton so you can turn the throttle lock with out having to trip it. I have used these with no problems. The rubber that goes under it can be ground off by using a grinder and vice or some has a few set screws that can make it more or less. I prefer the cruise and like some has said it is the best $$ you can spend

If you are using the stock grips that is part of the problem. The smaller grips make the numbness worse. Larger grips help a lot. It elimates your hand being too tight around the grip-takes less less engery.

Throttle rockers - both left and right side.

Biggest difference for me was touring pullback handlebars.

Used to get numb hand/elbow/shoulder - now the only thing that gets numb is my a$$

i do 2 things:

1. the throttle rocker. get from the previously mentioned website, i found mine at the local metric dealer. also 10.00

2. the throttle lock. do not torque it down so tight that you cannot move the throttle in a hurry. you just need to tighten enough to give some tension on the throttle. you can still easily roll back on the throttle if needed.

different bars help too. on one set of bars, my 3rd and 4th fingers go numb. other bars they don't. got to find the ones that you like, and feel good for you.

I can't speak for the ultra, but had the problem with my 04 dyna. I added Kuro isogrips that helped some, but when I put the wildone bars on that had risers and bar as one, the vibration and numbness vanished. I don't think that option exists for the baggers though. I have noticed my right hand also gets numb on my ultra after about 30 miles. Haven't put on the isos yet but likely will. I do have the cruise to give it a rest

I had that problem in my right hand. It would go numb after about 45 minutes. I found out I had carpel tunnel. I had it operated on on Jan and I have no problem whatsoever with numbness in my right hand now. Now my left hand is going numb so I'll have surgery on it this coming Jan.

I have had this problem for sometime the cruise helps you can drop it down and get rid of the numbness. My hands also get numb when I talk on the phone so I believe its a circulation or carpel problem.

I have the same problem and will get it fixed this winter. I had the left hand done first because I had almost lost the use of my thumb. The surgery fixed it completely and I hope the right one does as well. I cope now because of the cruise control on my new EGC. It makes riding enjoyable again.
