I Found The Problem!
A couple of months ago my bike broke down at work -- wouldn't start. Did have my tools so had it towed to the dealer. Bike started fine at the dealer's and they couldn't find anything.
I've always suspected the PCIII (my 2nd since March), but never could get the problem to repeat itself. I cleaned all the contacts and added silicone grease on damn near everything, plus added star washers to my grounds, so thought maybe I had it fixed.
Well, today, in 102F heat, the bike wouldn't start at work again. It would crank like crazy but no fire. [size=2]BUT THIS TIME I HAD MY TOOLS!!!! Replaced the PCIII connector on the ECM with the stock connector and the bike started right up. Went back and forth for a few times to be sure, but sure enough it was the PCIII causing the problem. So I rode the bike for about 10 miles with the PCIII out of the system, pulled over and put the PCIII back in the system, and it started right up. Must have a bad connector or wire or something that expands in the heat and after cooling off the problem goes away.
Anyway, guess for now I'll get the Stage 1 download so I can at least ride while I send the PCIII back to get my third replacement in five months. In the meantime, I'll call V&H to see if they make a fuelpak for my 2000 EGC. Heard good things about the fuelpak, so hopefully they do. The bike actually runs great with the PCIII, but dang, I've had some bad luck with them.
Oh well, thought I'd give everyone an update if case you experience a similar problem.
Thanks for everyone who gave me a "hard time" last time for not having my tools with me. Won't happen again.

So much for all the "mods". I have no desire to try to convert my '08 Ultra Classic into a drag strip hotrod. Unless something happens that makes it absolutely necessary to modify it, it's staying box-stock. My opinion is that meddling with final engineering designs is asking for trouble. Did you say you had some trouble? I rest my case. Over and out.

I think he meant the final engineering design is what is causing the trouble. MaybeI misread it[8D]
Put 5000 miles on your putter and lets take a look at that motor. They come so lean from thefactory as is that itis imperative that some type of fuel management is necessary. There are many out there. This guy is having bad luck with the PCIII.I have several friends including myself who have used the PCIII for thousandsof miles without a hiccup at all.
Now, I was at Racine HDtalking to a guyjust2 hours agoin the parking lot. First time I have seen the '08 in person. He hada "STOCK" '08SG with 600 miles on it.Guess why he was there........His right muffler had a nice gold/bronze color to it at the head pipe connector. He was a little pissed to say the least.
Oh well, no brains, no headaches!! Good luck!!

I hope you have great service and no issues out of your bike but my bet is, you'll be back on here before long asking how to deal with the heat, pinging and get a few more "ponies" out of it.
I have had the PCIII on my '03 for 3 years now with no issues and no, I didn't install it to "convert my Ultra Classic into a drag strip hotrod". I did it because I changed the exhaust to something better than the "final engineering design" and also the restrictive air filter to a K&N (another FINAL engineering design itself) so my engine would LAST longer and RUN better.
Better not put any chrome accessories on it as you'd be changing that final engineering design........
