I upgraded my 2006 RKCI with Arlen Ness Big Sucker, V&H Oval Slip-on Mufflers and Power Commander III. Harley provided upgrade from 8 degree to 25 degree on the injector shortly after I purchased the bike. I mapped the Power Commander to M807-213
V&H Ovals
Screaming Eagle air filter (hopefully same as AN)
Stock ECM
Well, I'm getting "popping" between 1st and 2nd shifting - could this be because of the injector upgrade?
Any suggestion in correcting problem?
First thing, double check to make sure you have no exhaust leaks, thats a big cause of decell popping. Assuming you have set 0 throttle position. If popping still continues try a different map. Its not the injectors.
If you have had 8 degree injectors changed out for 25 degree you need to adjust your Power Commander midrange - up two (2) clicks and the high range - up one click after mapping. Got the information from Dyno-Jet in Las Vegas...I made the adjustments and the bike is running likea charm.
Do a search on decel popping. There are hours of reading on this. Bottom line, if no exhaust leak can be found then add some fuel to the 0 throttle position above 1250 rpm. That is the column on the left of the screen when you have your map up on you computer. Try adding 10's to the 1250 - 4000 rpm areas. Test ride. If the popping is still there then put 15's there. Test ride if popping is still there put 20's there. It will stop.Mine has 15's in it. This does not hurt anything because you do not drive your bike at this range. 0 throttle position means you are just thring to stop or decel. Make sure that you do not add any numbers under 1250 rpm or it will mess up your idle. That is the good thing about the PCIII. Try something and if you don't like it then put it back the way it was. Hope that helps - Jeff
