Default decel pop

I have a 03 road king with big bore kit(95inchs) big air sucker and just swapped the pipes yesterday from stock to a set of screaming eagle. All i did was swap the slipons and I took the bike out for a test ride and it pops. Harley says becasue I have the download I don't need a power commander. Am I going to damage my bike by not adding on a power commander or is bike going to be fine just have a pop everytime I let off the throttle? Please help, love the bike don't want to fu** it up

most common cause for decel pop is an exhaust leak. good to place to start checking (cheaper too )

I can honestly say I have no idea what I'm talking about but the people I talk to that actually do know what they are talking about would recommend you get some type of fuel management add on.

I could never get my bike to stop popping with the HD download. I know it was running lean and seemed hot. I finally got a Power Commander and NO MORE POP!

Most people I know with a Harley Download...have a decel pop! How do they get rid of it??

Getting A PC-V! Or one of the other Commanders. They are plug and play...easy to install and you'll enjoy the benefits!

I recently went over my SG looking for exhaust leaks which is one of the culprits of decel popping. The short version:

Use new TORCA clamps ($6 each) along with a generous amount of Ultra Copper Silcone. Torque clamps to specs and problem solved.

Regarding fuel management, every bike is different, so I recommend calling FuelMoto and order a Power Commander. Fuelmoto will help get you the right map plus you will have the added benefit of being able to fine tune later.

Hi,

I have the same bike, just got the big bore kit. My bike, since it was new, has always popped on decel. I had the Stage 1 kit installed at purchase. Did you get the Power Commander? If so, did that solve the problem? Thanks.

You are not likely hurting anything with the popping but solve it you need to richen the idle and a bit above idle to stop it. Fuel managenment is the only solution. As mentioned check for exhaust leaks first before throwing more money at it.
