King TourPak Quote

If you do find a used one and need it painted, keep us in mind. www.thefactorymatch.com
We’ve painted OEM ones and cheap Amazon/Chinese ones, there is a big difference in quality for sure.

Back in 2018 I got my King Tour pack from my dealer. No lights though. I think painted and keyed to match the bike with all you list ( minus lighting) I paid $1,600.
So your quote, given the increase in costs, isnt too bad.Pricey but , whats inexpensive from anyone these days if the quality is as good as the HD one.

I'll be the dissenting opinion here and offer a third option (HD being #1, w/ Bezos being #2)...
Buy a used HD TP for a SUBSTANTIAL savings and paint it "to match" yourself.
I see used TP's advertised locally for a few hundred dollars. Yes, they might be a color that doesn't work for your bike, but paint is a lot cheaper than what the MoCo wants to charge you for what will likely be a seldom used piece of motorcycle wall art.

I was patient and found a used OEM tour pak on ebay that was already the same color as my bike (brilliant silver). It was the pre-Rushmore style but came with the quick detach mount that was the same. I paid $700 shipped, then added a matching lock, luggage rack, and lighting from Custom Dynamics. All in I probably paid around $1200.

Here's my take on it....
With the price of the ones being sold on the Marketplace, they are hard to pass up. They're probably inferior (China) to the HD ones, but you already see how much the HD ones are going for.
I paid $180 for a chopped TP with the quick disconnect bracket and backrest. Granted my bike is denim black so I have no worries about paint. All I needed was to buy the plate for the inside. I've seen some King TP on Marketplace go for a little more than what I paid for the chopped with the same things added.
Let's say you pay $200 for a King. The HD one you posted was $2616.XX. How many of those $200 Kings can you buy with $2616.XX if the cheaper one doesn't hold up?
If I were looking to purchase a King for trips, I would first go with the cheaper version just to see how it holds up. If it holds up just fine for what you're doing with it, then you are golden. Honestly, I haven't had mine on long trips, but I really can't see how this cheaper version would not hold up. What could possibly go wrong with it? Granted if you install a rack on the TP and load it up, then of course something may happen, but let's be reasonable.
