So you think it's dumb that the Heritage Softail Classic has them too?
I think their is only a 10lb. weight difference between the RKC and the Heritage.

Spokes on a heavy touring bike is dumb, paying harley an extra 450.00 for them even dumber
I think that's for the "profile" laced wheels, not the standard ones.
I bought my '08 EGC off the floor and it had the optional lace wheels (standard type) which I didn't want so they traded them for cast wheels and knocked $450 off the price. I think the Profile wheels are even more.

My spokes are so easy to clean. I have 5 big ones, and they are 21" which makes them even easier to clean

I also have my stock wheels and tires for sale.

I have the optional spokes laced spokes on my '04 flhti which I like the looks of,but on my '97 flht I had the stock mags which I loved for ease of maintainence/reliability. My dad has an '05 RK custom with the fancy cast/mag wheels and wants to trade me for my spoke wheels. Will they be a direct fit to my bike? I think I'll take him up on the offer if they'll swap out easy.

Thanks in advance for your replies

It's the profile laced that cost the extra $450. I didn't pay any extra for the standard lace wheels that came on my RKC.

That is because spokes are standard on a Road King Classic. However, they are an option some of the other models. Back in the day before the profile wheels came around, if you wanted laced wheels on a bike that came stock with cast wheels, it was a $320 option.
